The eyelash cycle is approximately four to six weeks. Do not be alarmed if some of your natural lashes fall out (they most likely were at the end of their cycle). It is normal to lose anywhere between 3-5 natural lashes daily. Shedding lashes may be more noticeable simply because they have a darker, longer extension attached to them.
If you choose not to follow our aftercare guide or wear non-lash compatible eye makeup we can not guarantee your lash extension retention.
DO NOT
*DON'T use oil based products on or near your eyelashes including but not limited to eye creams, eye serums, heavy oils and cleansers as these can come into contact with your lashes and dissolve the adhesive bond.
*DON'T use waterproof cosmetic products on or near your eyelashes. Your stylist can recommend lash compatible products, but let the rule of thumb be: water-based products only!
*DON'T scrub or rub your eyes. You should not feel your lash extensions - if irritation occurs, let your stylist know immediately.
*DON'T use a sauna or steam room frequently. The repeated exposure to moist heat can break down the bonds in the adhesive - leading to a shorter retention time.
*DON'T use a clamp-style eyelash curler on your extensions. This can permanently damage not only the extensions, but your natural eyelashes as well.
*DON'T put your face in direct heat from an oven, stove, grill, or dishwasher. Extensions are synthetic, if you expose them to heat sources it could potentially cause singed ends & compromise the adhesive bond.
DO
*Avoid direct contact with water or steam for 12 hours.
*Remove all eye makeup with Borboleta Breakdown Oil-free makeup remover.
*Gently cleanse your lashes, lash line, and lid daily to keep your follicles and lashes beautifully healthy. Use an eye shadow brush with Borboleta Lash Bath to wash away debris and oil.
*Rather than traditional mascara, if you want to further enhance your lash extensions, we have specially formulated eyelash extension mascara that is ideal for coating your classic extensions. Ask your lash stylist for more information.
*Avoid any type of oil based products around the eyes. Oil will break down the adhesive and cause the extensions to fall off.
*Use eyelash wands - they are great for grooming your lashes every morning.
